Ardonlto of the Olympic ciub, who recently woh the amateur heavyweight wrestUnji championship of the Pacific coast, killed with his bare hands a man hts found rifling a bureau drawer in his home. No Charge Is Likely. No charge is likely ever to be place<i against Ardouin for the slaying, po lice said. Examination of Anderson’s body dis closed that death apparently was caused by strangulation, Ardouin hav ing doubled his neck forward so that his throat had been pressed against the collar of a khal^i shirt lie wore. Ardouin was heartu.oken when he discoveretl that Andenson was dead. Will Help Victim’s Wife. “I’ll do anything in my power for his wife,” he said. “All I tried to d(» was to subdue him. He put up a terrible battle, even after 1 liad got a fulKNel- <Kon hold on him. I was h<»rribly shocked when the policemen turne<] him over and found him dead. They kept turning «ndi looking down the stre^, suddenly two oil the sentinels came runnlnig in and reported that there seemed to be somthing unusual going On not far off. In a few moments, there ap peared a troop of Yankee cavalry, coming lickety split. Seeing the two Confederates they unslung their car bines and began firing, and rushing ii^ht through the boys, what eared the brutes. There was one fellow, a dutchman, riding a fine large horse evidently a carriage horse unaccus tomed to the saddle. The boy, to keep from being run over, threw up his hands and the horse reared and bucked. The Hun went up in the air and ^hen he hit the pommel he let out a yell of agony and his saddle bags dropped, the boy was on his the fence and getting under the house job, for grabbing the bags, he vaulted he buried it near the chimney. No, the Hun never got his bags again, for when the boys opened them, they found a feast of things not seen by them for years, yum, yum, didn’t they look good and taste better. An Edam cheese, several bolognas, true and pure coffee, and a lot of other things. Not many days afterwards the boy travelled in a covered wagon nearly the whole length of the State, seeing alpng the road carcasses of horses, cows and hogs shot and left to rot in the fields. And very often chimneys alone marking where a hap py home had been. The boy called them Sherman’s monuments. The Capital of the State was still smould ering. The war was over but the Hell of Reconstruction was still to come. (To be continued). BRgVATO NEWlb MtgyJW, 1^ C> C0N90L1DATED REPORT OF THE TAX COLLECTOR AND TREASUR ER OF THE TOWN OF 9REVARD, M. €.
