OUR WEEKLY SERMON (Continud from First Page) When I met the Master face to face. “I had built my castles and reared them high. With their towers piercing the blue of the sky; I had sworn to rule with an iron mace, When I met the Master face to face. “I met Him and knew Him, and blush ed to see That His eyes, full of sorrow, were fixed on me; * I faltered and fell at Hig feet that day, . While my castles melted and vanish ed away. “Melted and vanished, and in their place, Nought else could I see but the Mas ters face; I cried aloud, ‘0 make me meet To follow the steps of Thy wounded feet.’ “Now my ibought is for the souls of men. I have loct my life to find it again; E’er since rne day in a quiet place I met the Master face to face.” Second mile religion delights the heart of God. With the extras be yond what He requires the heavenly Father is well pleased. It is this kind of religion that impresses the world. A native Chinese walked six ty mile to present himself to the near est mission station to confess his faith in Jesus. Upon being asked under whose preaching he was led to Christ, he replied that no one’s preaching so led him, “but,” he said, “my home is next door to a man who lives the gospel.” Even untutored minds recognize second mile religion when it is lived before them; %ey know when they have come in con tact with a love that is divine in its character. Have you the spirit of that second mile? Are you willing to serve your brothers more than is asked of you? I Are you twice as willing? If you are then you will know what Jesus means j by the religion of the second mile. , Second mile religion is the only re- I ligion that either God or man believes | Lin. It is the extra that delights the ' heart of God; it is the extra that con-; I vinces the world. j Watennaif untainFen Do You Read Tho Ads This Paper If You Do Listen!
