Shoals on Wednesday evening. T. W. Whitmire and Roland Whit mire of Asheville were business vi sitors to Brevar<} on Tuesday. Mr. Braddock of Ft. Pierce has .ioined his family, who are spending the summer at the England Home. Mrs. C. T. Shytle and children of Asheville are guests of Mrs. W. H. Duckworth at the “Idlewylde.” Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Robins and Miss Robins of Baltimore are visit ing Mrs. Robin’s Parents, Mr. and Mrs. Corn. Rev. W. A. Burns, pastor of the Baptist church in Quincy, Fla., and who is spending the month of August in Brevard, preached in the local Bap tist church on last Sunday night, and his sermon was acceptable to the ap preciative congregation who heard him. Mr. and Mrs. Burns will return to their home next week. Misses Willie Fay and Dorothy King of Florence, S. C., are the guests of their mother, Mrs. J. C. King. Ralph R. Fisher made a business trip to Asheville this week. Ralph motored over in his new Ford touring car. Roy DeLong has the agency for the Greenville News. He solicits your subscrii>tion and will deliver it to any one in Brevard every day. Mrs. E. L. Queen and son, Joe, of Florence, S. C., who have been visit ing .Mrs, J. C. King for the past two \\HH*ks, left this week for their home. Dr. C. W. Hunt’s many friends will be pleased to know that his health is improving every day and that he is irradually resuming his practice again. Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Holmes of Try- on, X. C., aU(i sons, George and Law- rcnce, are visiting Mrs. Holmes sister Miss Elise Walker. Dan’l Leon English made a splen- ilid catch on a fishing trip last Tues day. He caught fifteen splendid trout. ^Vlisses Eula and Louise Milner, Miss Tannell and Mrs. W. J. Wallis motored to Asheville for the day on Thursday. M iss Frances Scott, who has been the guest of Miss Jean Harris, w’as called home suddenly last week by the serious illness of a member of her family. Rev. Chas. C. Smith went down to Fruitland on Monday of this week, where he attended the opening of the Institute on Tuesday morning, and also a meeting of the Board of Trus tees of that institution, of which he is a member. He returned on Tues day afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. H. Vernaelde, Miss Estella Vernaelde and Miss Carol Steele left by motor on Tuesday for their home in Jacksonville after spending the last two months here. Miss Lucy Warren and Miss Doro- ^ thy Barnett, who have been visiting j Miss Violet Henry for two weeks, left on Monday for their home in Louis ville, Ky. I Misses Irene Hurst and Clara Coun cil of Durham, who spent two weeks in Brevar<j as the guests of Misses Sara and Mary Smith, have returned . to their home. j There is suue to be a serious acci dent on the hard surface^ road be tween Brevard and Hendersonville. Cars are racing at terrific speed on this road each Sunday. It ought to i be stopped at once. SINGING SUNDAY EVENING: There will be class singing Sunday evening at Catheys Creek Baptist Church at 3 o’clock. The Rosman class is expected to meet with the class there and enjoy the evening to gether. Other classes and singers have a special invitation to come and sing with us. ' Mrs. Long’s sons, Noyes and George, I who have been at Camp Sapphire, and Miss Lillian, who was at Rockbrook, accompanied their mother. { Mi.ss Sara Smith, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Chas, C, Smith, w’ho .spent the summer with her parents, w'ill re- turn to Durham county school system, I her sch-'ol being six miles out from I the city of Durham. ?.Iiss Sara was I offered a posit’on in the Brevard schools, but, having taught for two I years in Durham county, preferred to teach another year in the same school before making a change. Hosea Smith is on his annual va cation to Spartanburg. CAMPING PARTY On Saturday, August twelfth, a ; large camping party left Brevard to ! spend three days on Pilot Mountain. ' The party was chaperone^ by Mr. ! and Mrs. J. S. Silversteen and Mr. and Mrs. C. P. White, and was given ! in honor of the young ladies who are j house guests of Miss Miriam Silver- steen. ICE CREAM SUPPER There will be an ice cream supper at the Blantyre school house on Au gust 26, 1922, Bring one and some cash. Please take notice that Dr, Osborne with the State Board of Health is here in Brevard for the purpose of examining, treating and caring for children’s teeth. Further will say that those that are to reap benefit from Dr. Osborne are those children in the county schools whose ages range between 6 and 12 both inclu sive. Further will say that any and all patrons and children of the coun ty desiring to take advantage of this opportunity will report at present to the office of the undersigned for re direction to the place of the clinic. Further will say that we are hoping to have at least 20 per day so long as it is profitable and beneficial for Dr. Osborne to remain with us.
