He state at the outset that no fee would be asked on his account. Late advices are to the effect that Judge Bynum claims $35,000 as the fee for both himself and his associate, rate of fifty cents a head, may se cure members in the National organi zation and signers to a petition for the light wine and beer modification of the national prohibiton law. The fee in the national organization is one dollar. Mr. Alderman Even that sum is I mean. Friendship by its very nature con sists in loving, rather than in being loved. In other words, friendship consists in being a friend, not in hav ing a friend. Friendship may exist conjointly with other loves. Again, the other loves may exist they more commonly do without the higher el ement of friendship. But only so far as love finds its chiefest joy, and its very life in loving, it is true friend ship's love. It is the very nature of friendship to fix its thought on that which is lov able in the one loved as a friend and thereby to lose thought of that which is unlovable. We are glad when he hows himself at his best, and we are never troubled if he failed to .-'me as he might, while we surpasa-- mands their love and confidence in a unique degree, and this fact marks both the limitation and the grace of the supremest friendship. The only unrest of a love that rests in the truth of one's truer self is the cease less craving to love more. The deep est hunger of a faithful heart is faithfulness.
