LANDSCAPE WORK NEEDED AT MONUMENT The following letter from Mr, Verne Rhoadea, Forest Supervisor, ?shows hi* continued interest in our monument to Transylvania's soldiers of the World War, Mr. Rhoades gave valuable aid in the building of this monument and his interest In having proper land scape work done around the monu ment and hia intention to have a cut of the monument in the next publi cations made by the government :u very pleasing to the Memorial Com mittee and to all of the people of Transylvania County. We hope that our people will get busy and provide the necessary funds to do the grading and plant ing and make this a beauty spot of whirfh we will all be proud. The new post cards gotten out by our enterprising druggists, * showing views- of the monument ancf scenes in the Pisgah Forest, should be sent freely all over the country by our citizens. ' Dr. C. W. Hunt, Brevard, N. C. Dear Doctor Hunt.- ?? Thank you very much for your sample of the post cards showing Pisgah National Forest. There is no question but what they will do a great deal to advertise Pisgah Nat'onal Forest. It is our intention to use the Mem. orial Arch in oar photographic work whenever an official photographer comes down here again. Unfortun ately this memorial was not complet ed when Mr. Shipp was here over a year ago and we could not get an official photograph of it. In this connection I had been I wondering if the . Memorial Com mittee had in mind doing any lahd scape work around the Memorial Arch. It certainly needs some sort of lanflAcaping in order to properly set it off. If we can help y?u in any % l .way in getting the necessary shrub bery and trees w? will be more than glad to do it. We have some fine spruce trees ranging from 12 to1 20 feet high growing in the Pink Bed* and any number of these could be used around the entrance, provided this would help in giving th? correct landscape feature. ?
