Raines, owner of French Broad camp, was in lirevarri last week, making final arrangements for opening of the camp for the "1 5128 season. ? While here Major' ex pressed himself as being elated over the prospects for this season, and said he fully expects this to exceed any. year since he has been operating t' : camp here. BEGIN BEAUTIFYING OAK GROVE CEMETERY Spring campaign for cleaning up Oak Grove cemetery has begun, and all those who have" graves there or are other-vise interested in the movement :;re r ec lested to contrib ute what they can toward getting the work done, and leave the money with Mrs. Kellar at Patterson's store. Mr. Church Morris has been- engaged to clean up the grounds, and the work will begin just as soon as suf ficient funds are in the hands of those in charge f the movement. WANTS POLITICAL CAMPAIGNS IN COUNT STOPPED Editor The Breva. ' N'ews: Why should T i . .-ylvania county, uiuU. thc prcseir. tatus of things, be i"iit and torn i aider by a heat ed -and bitter p? ..'.icajj campaign during the eoming .11? I sincerely be lit vo that the sci dblu thing for the politicians and otf ice-seekers to do is to get together on some agree ment which might eliminate the ne- 1 cess it y of a campaign in which both parties will, as usual, go out and appeal in the prejudices and ani ,mo>" ,i s <,f tht (K-ople instead of the.'r good common sense and sober judgment. A just and equitable solution of the problems now confronting the ' people of this county is of much ? greater import than the success or' failure of any political party in the | coming county election. Problems which the results of the. election, be they what they may. cannot pos sibly solve. Problems on whose in- ' t?llit!vnt solution depends not only the general welfare of the county, i but its very existence. ( 1 am neither a pessimist nor an alaTnii.4 (and God knows I despise' the chronic calamity howler) but if some bold and forward movement is not nstiiuted and pushed to comple- j tion as quickly as possible whereby! pre* nt taxes may be paid and fu- ; ture taxes reduced our citizens will | be sold out 'and ?'run out and the j county placed in the hands of a re ceiver. To accomplish the above will re- j ifo'trc the concerted effort and the | best brain of both political parties, and I repeat that unless -wo act prpltiptlv and intelligently we shall be" unable to avoid the impending crash. I believe that acquiesence in a scheme as suggested above would be truly patriotic and to the eternal credit of both political parties, and could, i think, be arranged to the entire satisfaction of all concerned. | i Respectfully. >.
