Joint meeting is enjoyable
EVENT
One of the most enjoyable and
helpful recent gatherings of a social
nature, was the joint meeting of the
four women's auxiliaries of the dif
ferent churches of the town which
Was held in the ladies' parlor of the
Methodist church Thursday afternoon
with members of the Methodist so
ciety hostesses of the occasion.
About seventy-five representatives
from the different auxiliaries were
present at this meeting, including
those from the Baptist, Presbyter
ian, Episcopal and Methodist church
es.
Followng a short business session,
presided over by the president, Mrs.
J. B. Pickelsimer, in which necessary
matters of business were transacted,
devotionals were led by Mrs. Ernest
Norwood, basing her remarks on the
46th Psalm, the keynote of which
was consecration. This was followed
by a vocal. selection, "I Love a Little
Cottage," by Mrs. J. F. Winton, ac
companied by Mrs. B. E. Nicholson
at the piano. The main feature of
the program was the open1 discus
sion on tKe subject of "JPijughters,"
led by Mis. L. B. Haynes, assisted by
Mrs. Laura Miller, Mrs. HUme Har
ris and Mrs. H. C. Ranson, and par
ticipated in by other members and
quests present. Problems in the
home from a daughter's standpoint
were interestingly and helpfully dis
cussed in the different ideas ex
changed on /this subject.

Immediately following the wedding,
an informal reception was held, the

ing carried \ out in the dining room
decorations and in the refreshments.
Immediately following the recep
tion,- Mr. and Mrs. Kimzey left for a
ten-day motor trip to Florida, after
which they will return to Brevard to
make their home.
Mrs. Kimzey is well known
throughout the state, being a grad
uate of Salem College, after which
she taught in several North Carolina
schools. She traveled abroad one
year. For the past year she has
held the office of home demon
strator for Transylvania county.
Mr. Kimzey, the oldest son of
Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Kimzey, is a
native of Transylvania county, and
descended from the old and well
known family of Pattons in Western
North Carolina. He is a graduate
of Brevard High School, Davidson
Collejge, and Cumberland Law
School, Lebanon, Tenn. He prac
ticed law in both Tennessee and
North Carolina, and for the past
three years has been a member of the
law firm of Hamjin & Kimzey, of
Brevard.

Mrs. Lawrence Holt was hostess
to the members of the Sarah Taylor
Circle Monday afternoon at the
Waltermire Hotel. The meeting was
presided over by Mrs. Thomas
Teague, the vice president, in the
absence of the president, Mrs. Goode
Loftis.
Mrs. Teague was elected delegate |
to the annual missionary meeting 1
convening in Winston-Salem, April
16-19. Following the reading of
the minutes, roll call and paying of
pledges, Mrs. Oliver Orr spoke on
Better Homes, after which she led
in prayer. Mrs! Roland Whitmire
read an article on "Water in the
broken cup," followed by closing
prayer by Mrs. ;Teague.
Refreshments were served by the
hostess at the conclusion of the

MUSICAL FEATURES ARE !
ENJOYED
Two musical features of the past ,
week, which were highly enjoyed,
were the recitals given by Mrs. P.
N. Simons and Mr. Alvin Moore at
the home of Mrs. O. L. Erwin,
featuring Schubert's Symphony. The
first recital was that given before
the Brevard Wednesday club on
Tuesday afternoon, and the second
before the Music Lovers' club Mon
day afternoon.
