C., has been visiting his brother, James Merrill. Mr. Merrill's health has been very bad for somet time. During his stay in the mountains he underwent an operation at Patton Memorial hospital, Hendersonville. Reid visited Miss Hen derson and her pupils at school last Friday afternoon. Mrs. Clarence Norton and Mr. W. Reid accompanied Mrs. C. W. Fisher to Dr. VanEpps last Saturday. J .Galloway, returning in time for preaching service at Lake Toxaway Baptist church. On her return to Oakland Sunday afternoon Miss Marion Henderson I had an exciting experience. A car 'driven by a man who tried to pass the car she was in, and without blow ing his horn, ran off the road just as it was passing and turned over. She said sJhe did not think any one was seriously hurt but it surely did ive her a scare. She did not know the party, but thought they were from Rosman. We hope every one that is inter ested in the Reid cemetery will bear in mind the annual working the last Saturday in April, which will be the 27th. Ali come prepared to do a good day's work and brinp flower seeds, if roil have them. Some of the Oakland folks failed to get to church Suuday. They did1! not stay away from choice, but be cause tfcey could not get thare. We were delighted though, to bear of the appreciative congregation and the excellent sermon preached by the pator, Rev. E. R. Pendleton, from the subject: "Jesus in the boat with you.' I am sure if we would all consider our life a boat and try to keep Jesus in the boat at all times t'here would be more happy homes. Friends, let's try it. We wera made sad by the news of the death of one of our old friends, Mr. Tom Cantrell, who died a few days ago at his home in Jo cassee, S. C. He had many friends in this county who will be shocked to hear of his death.
