SUMMEY for Summey & Paxton Phone 264 EAST FORK NEWS j The farmers are putting in good time since the ground is dry enough i for planting. We think most every farmer is at least half through plant- , ing. B. A. Gillespie and son, Charlie , were in Brevard Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Heath and daughter, Polly Kate, of Asheville, , were East Fork visitors for the week end. Miss Mary Gillespie is home after spending last week in Asheville. We had a tax listing day one day laVt week, but no one in the settle ! ment knew anything about it, so ; now their taxes aren't listed. Still , it was not the fault of the tax lister, I but everyone was so busy they never ' passed around where the notice was . posted. 1 We were mighty glad to notice, in last week's News, where our county commissioners had opened up their hearts and given us a Recorder s Court. Oh, they ain't going to be stingy no more, no more. We don't believe they'd even fire the county demonstrators now. Well, we won ' der if tha reason they did fire so ! many folks, could be they were lead ! ing up to this very business. We be lieve it's a mighty wise step they've ; taken and one that took a heap of : forethought, but we are puzzled to ; know what they'll do with tHeir i prisoners when they get the county j home filled up and the chain gang done abolished, all our roaas in ! top (pie over) shape. Nobody wants Transylvania prisoners, and when | you take into consideration that a:l the folks will avail themselves of ihe privilege of taking an appeal, we ! fail to see the economy in a Record I yr's Court. Yet it's a mighty fine job 1 and a paying one, too, so we feel proud of the fact that prosperity has struck our county broadsided and I hard times won't even ever come ! again, and the folks will stop their i everlasting howl about the. school taxes busting the county. Surely when we can afford such luxuries as i we now do, we won't take things so : hard. ! SEUCANEWS ! Osborne & Sons It costs very little to recondition a MODEL T FORD THE Ford Motor Company is making a new car, but it is still proud of the Model T. It wants every owner of one of these cars to run it as long as possible at a minimum of trouble and expense. Because of this policy and because of the investment that millions of motorists have in Model T cars, the Ford Motor Company will con tinue to supply parts as long as they are needed by Ford owners. So thai you may get the greatest use from your Model T, we suggest that you take it to the near est Ford dealer and have him estimate on the cost of any replacement parts that may be necessary. You will find this the economical thing to do because a small expenditure now will help to prevent costlier repairs later on, increase the value of the car, and give you thousands of of additional service. For a labor charge of only $2.60 you eari have your generator put in first-class condition. A new universal joint will be installed for a labor co?t of $3. Overhauling the carburetor costs SI. 50; steering gear, 83.50; radiator, $7.50. A complete overhauling of the rear axle assembly runs be tween $5.75 and $7 for labor. An average price of $22.50 covers the overhauling of the motor and transmission. These prices are for labor only because the need and uuinber of new parts depend on the condition of each car. The cost of these parts is Sow, however, because of the Ford policy of manu facturing and felling al a small margin of mile3 profit.
