RALLY DAY OBSERVANCE AT
PRESBYTERIAN AUXILIARY
Last Thursday was Rally Day for
the Woman's Auxiliary of the Pres
byterian church, and at their meet
ing on that afternoon, the members ,
had the great pleasure of having
with them to conduct the devotional
exercises Mrs. J. S. Hunter, of Hen
dersonville.
Mrs. Hunter is the Synodical sec
retary of Religious Education in the
Synod of Appalachia. She is intense
ly interested in the young people,
and made a strong earnest talk con
cerning their training. Taking as
her text, "And Jesus increased in j
wisdom and stature and in favor with .
God and man," she brought out the i
fourfold character of the develop
ment of the young ? physical, educa
tional, social and spiritual. She
emphasized the last, showing how it
is only through our spiritual nature
that we have the slightest trace of
influence upon the world, and how
everything should lead to the highest
development of the spiritual in our
characters.
Mrs. Hunter has the rare gift of
expressing her thoughts in forceful
and convincing, and at the same
time, beautiful language. The Synod
has been very happy in the selection
of one so peculiarly fitted to repre- |
sent this cause of Christian Eduoa-J
tion to the women- of the church, one ]
who embodies in her character and
bearing the great principles we wish
enforced upon the young people of
the churches.
The remainder of the program was
conducted by Miss Louise Brown.
The Auxiliary accepted with many
regrets the resignation of Mrs. Lyer
ly, who has recently moved from
Brevard to AsheviUe. Mrs. A. H.
Harris was chosen to fill Mrs. Ly
erly's place as chairman of Synod
ical and Presbyterial Home Missions.

The bride's father, Mr. Louis

and a few close friends were guests
at the wedding dinner, which wai
given by the bride's father at Bat
tery Park Hotel immediately follow
ing the ceremony.
Immediately following the dinner,
Mr. and Mrs. Miller left on a hon
eymoon trip to New York, which will
conclude at Charlotte, where the
