ROSMAN NEWS MRS. JORDAN WHITMIRE, Manager ROSMAN CAGERS DEFEAT HIGHLAND QUINTET 32-16) ' After being off the court entirely j for three weeks, the Rosman cagers held their undefeated title against Highlands last Wednesday night, March 12, on the local court. The game was a brilliant affair, being nip and tuck for the first three quarters, i At the beginning of the fourth quarter the locals picked up their usual speed and nosed out the visi tors by the score of 32-15. No out standing stars on either team. The Rosman outfit expects to again meet Highlands on the 19th for the final game of the season. It is expected that the entire commun ity will turn out for this final game. MISSION ARY~SOClETY MEETING The Womnn's Missionary society af Zion Baptist church met at the home of Mrs. J. L. Bragg on Mon day faternoon with seven members present. The meeting was presided over by the president. Mrs. Bragg, the open ing prayer being led by Mrs. G. C. McOlure. Each member present read an article in regard to country church and their influence. Reports of the personal sevice leader and the secretary were heard. The society will observe next week as Week of Prayer, and will meet at the home of Mrs. G. C. Mc Clure Friday, March 28th for final prayer meeting and offering. : . BASKETBALL TEAMS HONORED William and Elsie White enter tained with a party at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. White. Thursday evening, honoring the basketball teams. The faculty of both Grammar and High School were also guests. Gaines were enjoyed throughout the evening. Refreshments of punch, fruit salad, cake and sandwiches were served to the thrity guests present. DISTRICT SINGING CONVENTION HELD AT PISGAH LAST SUNDAY The District Singing convention met at Pisgah Forest Sunday after noon with quite a nice crowd pres ent and a number of good singers. The next convention will meet at Dunns Rock church near Connestee, the third Sunday in April. DEVORE-McCALL Miss Myrtle McCall and Mr. An derson Devore wree quietly married in Pickens on Monday afternoon, March 17th. Mrs. Devore i< the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Simeon McCall, while Mr. Devore is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Devore. The happy young couple will make their home in Gloucester. PLANS DISCUSSED FOR M. E. CHURCH NEAR SAMPHIRE Rev. W. E. Rufty held preaching services at Sapphire Inn Sunday aft ernoon. Plans were discusscd in re gard to i recting a new M.
