WON'T YOU TURN FROM SIN
by
E. D. Randolph
Soul with you the Saviour pleads,
Longs your heart to win.
He would fill your many needs.
Won't you turn from sin.
Ycu have wasted precious years,
Lived for pleasure wrong.
Sin has filled your eyes with tears,
Robbed your heart of song.
Life's brief days will soon be thru
To turn no more,
Come, while Jesus waits for you,
At the open door.
Let Him give sweet joy for Woe,
Take all stain away.
Let Him make you "white as snow".
Torn from sin today.
CHORUS
Won't you turn from sin (ri^ht now)
Life's fair crown to win ?
Jesus pleads. He knows your needs.
Won't you turn from sin.

MONKEY-FACE OWL
IS CAPTURED HERE
?
Ranging far afield from his us
ual haunts, a Monkey- fac^ owl,
commonly called a burn owl, but
listed in the blue book on birds as
the "AIuco praticnola," was captur
ed Tuesday near Selica, by Arthur
Orr, and brought to Brevard. For
several hours the owl was on display
in the window of the Pisgah Indus
trial Bank, where numbers of peo
ple gathered to gaze upon him. The
owl was caught in a trap that had
been set to catch something that
had been stealing chickens.
It is a beautiful fowl, with var
ious shades of tawney, very finely
mottled, dotted and streaked tips.
Its underparts are light tawney with
some spotting. It has a long face,
and almost naked legs. The owl
ranges in sections of the United
states and Mexico, known in No<"th
Carolina from Davidson county to
the coast, end seldom seep in the
mountain section.
SOME THINGS THE FEDERATION
OF CLUBS MEAN TO WOMEN
The National Federation of Busi
ness and Professional Women's Clubs
of the United States, under whose
auspices National Business Women's
week is being celebrated March 10
to 16, numbers 56,000 members,
located in 47 states and the Haw
aiian Islands. It has approximately
1,100 clubs and 47 State Federations
and expends an annual budget of
$120,000. At its recent National
convention in Mackinac IslanJ, Mich.,
the sum of $25,000 was raised from
the floor in approximately 40 miiF
utes as the nucleus of a building
fund to establish permanent head
quarters in Washington, the national
capital.
A business reciprocity program
whereby business women, members
of the Federation, pledge themselves
systematically to promote other busi
ness women was launched at the
same convention.
The Federation operates The In
dependent Woman, only magazine in
the world published exclusively in
jthe interests of business and profes
sional women. This appears monthly
and carries stimulating articles from
leading writers dealing with various
phases of business women's prob
lems.
Recently the Federation has com
pleted a survey which has disclosed
strikingly interesting facts about
business and professional women:
the vocations in which there is the
greatest opportunity for success; the
large number of women who are
handicapped by the care of depen
dents ; the range of salaries possible
to women of grade school education,
of college and secondary school edu
cation, etc., and even the age at
which the earning capacity of women
begins to decline.
The organization is non-partisan
and non-sectarian. It is made up al
most entirely of self-supporting wo
men and numbers on its roster Mrs.
Hoover, wife of the president of the
United States; Mrs. Calvin Coofitfge,
wife of the ex-president of the Unit
ed States; seven of the eight women
who are now members of the Con
gress of the United States; Judge
Florence Allen, only woman Supreme
Court justice in the world; and Nel
i lie Taylor Ross (first woman govern
jor in the United States).
COUNTY COURT TO CONVENE
MONDAY MORNING, MARCH 24
General County Court will con
vent next Monday for trial of spe
cial cases, a jury having been sum
moned for this court. It is expected
that several cases in which arrests
have been made during the past few
days will also be tried.
