A beautiful life has ended. As the first faint rays of daybreak sifted through the purple curtains of the dawn, on the morning of June four teenth, the pure and gentle soul of Martha Edmond Woodbridge as cended to its Maker, to be welcomed into the glorious sunrise of eternity by those who she had loved long since, and lost awhile . . . Father, mother, sister, brothers, husband and children had passed be fore her into that old-new world; and from the earliest concepts of the most ancient civilization the be lief that our loved ones meet again in the spirit world is perhaps the most steadfast inspiration of daily living . . . There is no necessity to eulogize anything as lovely as her life; ? one canot add to nor detract from the ideal of gentleness and peace she brought to the lives of those who knew and loved her best. True representative of that gracious age we refer to as 'the Old South," she was faithful unto the end to its ideals, and with her pass ing has gone a certain chaj-m of liv ing, and purity of thinking, we shall not find again. Mute words written in ink are a sadly inadequate offering to lay be bore the shrine of her memory ? but the little sanctuary lamp of my love will burn before it as long as life continues ... We hav.. the same word for all partings ? good-bye! To the friend who leaves to step across the street, we call a gay good-bye. in blithe as surance of a continued friendship, and with perhaps a deeper shade of meaning we bid good-bye to one about to leave us on a journey ? But still the same, small word, when those whose going scars our hearts, ? good-bye ! And so once more, good-bye, my dear, my dear, ? good-bye ? ! until such time I hear your voice again, say not good-bye. but Welcome! One Who Loved Her. A warning against fradulent brokers and pro moters who are offering stock in foreign Ford motor companies was issued today by the Better Business Bureau of Detroit, in conjunction with the National Business Bureau and affiliated offices throughout the United States and Canada. Relying on the goodwill and integ rity of the FOrd name, thousands of persons through the country have purchased stocks which either turn ed out to be spurious or were not delivered at all, the warning said. There is no way of estimating the financial loss involved. "There are a number of fradulent concerns in various parts of the country that represent themselves as brokerage houses and that offer stocks in various foreign Ford com panies," the statement from the Bet ter Business Bureau said. "Several of these companies sell on the partial payment plan. They offer stock for stipulated down pay ment and a fixed sum per month. Before the final payment becomes due and before the stock is delivered to the purchaser, the company goes out of business and its officers dis appear only to begin operations at another location and under another name. "Stocks of the Ford Motor Com pany of England, Ltd., and the Ford Motor Company of France are listed on the New York Curb market and the prices at which they are cur rently selling are printed in the fin ancial pages of the newspapers. Nevertheless many persons are be ing led by unscrupulous brokers to pay far in excess of the market prices. "The majority of stock brokers, of course, are honest. Our warning is directed solely against the fraudu lent concerns that ? carry on their fleecing of the public under the guise of reputable concerns. Anyone .contemplating the purchase of stocks should first consult his local Better (Business Bureau." SETTLING A QUARREL ?
