SOCIETY NEWS YOUNGER SET ENJOYS CHICKEN FRY About forty members of th? younger set, under te chaperonage of Mrs. Ed Harailtoa and Mrs. Lynch Moore enjoyed a chicken fry and picnic supper at Maiden Hair Falls last Friday evening. Songs, games and the regular joys of a picnic com posed the pleasures of the evening along with the delightful display of fried chicken and sandwiches. RETURN TO NASHVILLE AFTER WEDDING TRIP Mr. and Mrs. Perne K. Mynatt have reurned to their home in Nash ville, Tenn., after having been for the past two weeks at Virginia Beach. Mfrs.Mynatt before her marriage on June 28, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Harris, was Miss Frances Scott and is well known in Brevard, having Waited here each summer for several years. U. D. C. C. Taylor of Mt. Holly, became the bride of Mr. Har vey Elmore, in the Baptist church . of that city. Mrs. Elmore is a former teacher in the Gastonia schools where she be came acquainted with Misses Tran tham and Henry. BROOKjS-BERNARD VOWS ARE GIVEN Of interest to this community was the wedding of Miss Ruth Nao mi Brooks, daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Whitfield Brooks of Bre vard, and Dr. Grover C. Bernard of Hamptonville, which was solemnized Wednesday afternoon, June 25, 4:30 o'clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Fleming Brooks, on West Sixth avenue, Hendersonville. The ceremony was performed in the living room before a beautifully improvised altar of ferns, hydran gea and rhododendron. Rev. Walter H. Goodman, pastor of the Presby terian church of Kannapolis, offic iated. using the ring ceremony. There were no attendants. The bride is the youngest sister of J. F. and G. W. Brooks, of Hen dersonville. and L. M. Brooks, Mes dames C. R. McNeely, W. S. Price and J. M. Zachary, of Brevard. For the past nine years she has been a teacher in the city schools of Statesville. She possesses a rare charm of grace and manner, which has won for her a wide circle of friends throughout the state. The groom is a graduate of the Atlanta Southern Dental college and is popular in his home town. Immediately following the cere mony an informal reception was held. The entire lower floor of the Brooks home had been tastefully decorated with colorful summer flow ers. In the dining room a color motif of pink and green was car ried out in the floral arrangements, harmonizing with the tempting ice course served with individual heart shaped cakes. A shower of pink sweet peas, caught with bows of airy pink tulle, fell from the chan relier over the table which was was veiled with an Italian lace cloth. The central decoration was an elaborate arrangement of delphinium, roses and sweet peas, sentinelled by silver candlesticks, holding tall wax tap ers. The mints were in silver bon- 1 bon holders. Dr. and Mrs. Bernard left for an extended motor trip to Niagara Falls, Canada and eastern cities. The guest list war, drawn from rel atives and very clo? . friends. Among those who motored . to Henderson ville for the occas'on were Mr. and Mffe. W. S. Price, Mr. and Mrs. C. ;R.
