ROSMAN SCHOOL NEWS
Seventh Grade Has Exmllent i
Attendance Record.
The seventh grade has been trying j
to improve the attendance of the;
plementray school this year. Taking
into consideration bad roads, a scar
let fever epidemic, hard times, and
the fact that some of us have to come
over nine miles to school; we feel
that we have done pretty well. Our
average attendance for the first six
months of school has been about 96
per cent. The average attendance of
the boys and girls has been almost
the same.

'A Trip to Mt. Mitchell \
A year or so ago, at the top of Mt.
Mitchell, a tower was dedicated to i
the State of North Carolina. It was
given to the State by a wealty old I
gentleman, for a fire lookout, so that j
fires might be more quickly located :
and extinguished. My father who wa?
a warden, made the trip and carried i
all the family with him.
There are two cabins at the top of .
the mountain. In one of these there
is a huge fireplace which buvns logs
five feet or more long, and it was I
very pleasant close about it as the '
day was cold and rainy. The Deep
Laurel was in full bloom and the 1
mountain sides were masses of the j
most beautiful flowers that I havi ;
ever 3een.
HILDA GALLOWAY, 6th grade.
Spring Time ??
Spring time is here, i
And with it comes beauty, happiness, j
and cheer,
Spring is my favorite time of the ;
year.
I love spring and I ?.m glad it is I
here.
I love the flowers, birds and bees, ;
and also the beautiful trees.
I like them most when they put forth
their leaves.
I love spring flowers,
Because they bring forth flowers.
I love the green pastures for on the
hills,
I love the gardens and the yellow j
daffodils. J
RUBY GLAZENER, 5th grade. ;
Spring Flowers
Spring has arrived early this year,
the summer birds have come back ?
They wake us every morning with i
their sweet songs. The west wind
blows so* soft and warm that jt has 1
waked up the spring flowers ami told |
them to come up in the sunshine, i
A few days ago I took a short walk
through the meadows and woods. I '?
saw the alders and pussy willows, ;
also the dainty little for-get-me-nots, j
down by the brook. They were looking i
at their reflections in the water and
seemed well pleased with what they
saw. In the meadow the dandelions1
and buttercups were peeping up with
little golden eyes to see if the violets ?
had gotten up yet.
Near the woods I four.d some lovely ?
purple violets, and deeper under the j
trees some yellow woods violets. Re

Some birds are blue,
Some birds are brown,
Black, and yellow, too,
How pretty alt birds are.
Birds make up happy,

When we're out at play,
They go sailing near and far.
