VENABLE'S PLAN WILL HAVE HEARTY CO-OPERATION OF THE PEOPLE. Editor The Citlsen: Captain Vena ble has made two speeches In Sandy Mush towntthlp and four In Leicester township, - explaining fully bis plan for public schools to parents of both political parties. I was really surprised to find not only Democrats but also Republi cans, wives and children. In sympathy with the movement and anxious to try the experiment. Captain Venable has proven beyond a doubt that he is not working In the Interest of any political organisation, but In the Interest oj, the children of the county. His manifest sincerity has drawn all classes to him and he may be assured that he has their hearty co-operation. The teachers and committeemen are drawing up contracts for the duplicate system. Let the other sections of Buncombe county follow the example of these townships and we shall make the public schools of Buncombe a great success this year. A. C. REYNOLDS. Leicester, N. Ibernla park, the beautiful woodland suburb ' of Victoria, deserves tlie Introduction which Us attractive new name will give to the public . The domain In cludes more than 73 acres, stretching from the line of Robert U. Garrett's property westward to the vicinity of the passenger station of the Southern railway. Mr. Garrett has extended his boundaries westward by the purchase of a section of the Ibernla road, and will develop the same In the Tear fu ture for residence property. , ' Driving west along the Oakland road, to the new Ibernla road, which separates Mr. Garret.t's new purchase from the larger section beyond, which Is own ed by the Ashevllle Land 'com pany, the observer beholds both to C.ne right and left one long rolling sweep of finely timbered land, open on either side with a glorious outlook to the went, and south, and almost equally lovely views stealing upon the eye at Intervals over the housetops of the city toward the surrounding mountains. Every spot. It may be said, "is beauti ful for situation", breezy groves, deli riously quiet, filled with the songs of birds, and the grounds dotted with numerous springs. Ibernla road Is a picturesque drive through the woods, .leading directly to the Ashevllle street car line, so that the whole section Is finely adapted to beautiful suburban homes. While not included .ln either Victoria or Ashe vllle, It Is in close touch with both, and its open outline by way of the new connecting roads, recently laid out and built by the Ashevllle Land company affords a fresh and interesting drive way to those Intent upon seeing"; the best features of Ashevllle.
