THURSDAY, OCTOBER 20, 1327 PAGE TWO THE FRANKLIN PRESS colored Baptist church, conducted by Kcv. C. C. Martin and the Syjva choir. There is a cordial welcome extend ed to ' both while and colored. A wonderful treat is in store for you. The singing will be better than ever before. Come one, come all! Last week's Tress carried an ad vertisement announcing that Mash burn & Morgan Motor company, local, J)odge agents, were successors to the City Garage. Mr. Morgan states that Mr. H. H. Mashburn is associated with him in the Dodge agency only and that the City Garage will con tinue under its . old management. COST PER PUPIL SHOWS DECREASE (Continued from page one) The averaafi training for the' high school faculty this year is college graduation plus one-half year of ad ditional training. In other words all of the teachers in this year's high school factulty are college graduates and half of them have had as much as one year of training in addition to this. The result of this study and that of last week shows one thing be yond all others. That is that it is cheaper to teach students in large numbers, that better teachers can be employed without increasing the cost of instruction. That is what is meant ty efficiency. These "Studies therefore,' begun to .determine the facts for what they were and to prove or disprove ,it pet theories, clearly bears out the argument of those who have stood for. consolida tion of schools, churches and other social agencies. The gist of that is that, while you can have efficient schools, with small groups of stu dents, the cost of such schools is high and in some cases "prohibitive and that on the contrary efficient school systems are . possible at less cost to the taxpayer when the groups are- larger 1 and when , consolidation has been effected to th greatest pos sible degree. . Best of all it shows that Franklin and Macon county are not ' standing still or going backward, nor are they sacrificing anything, either in th , quality of teaching or in the amount of it which gets to the student. Old-Time Singing On Monday, October 31, 1927 there will be an old-time singing at the .hewolei service PL G Franklin, N. C, October 11, 1927. W. B. Lenoir, Agent, t 5" Jefferson Standard Life, ; ;.fTO: VFW Franklin, N. C. . ' .mim&:iM . , 3$ ' . My .Dear Captain Lenoir: Twenty-Five, and one ' half years ago (5 1-2 years before Jefferson Standard began business), you wrote an application for $1,000.00 on the life of my son, Burton. Only. 5 premiums were ever paid on the policy, and I, had thought for over 20 years it had lapsed and was of no value. j.r 1 Several times since Burton's death you insisted that policy was valuable, and after your insistent requests that I look up policy, that under its auto-, matic extended insurance feature, (which I under stand Jefferson Standard has) it was worth to me as beneficiary under the policy its full face value. I looked every where but could not find policy. " I furnished an indemnity bond and proofs of death, ; and in 5 days after received check for $1,000.00 in full payment for policy which I supposed lapsed for non-payment of premiums more than 20 years since. Plenty of agents will take your insurance; col lect the fees; treat you right as far as looking after the business goes but this is the first time I ever , had one insist that I collect money that I did, not imagine was due me.
