Zinnia Plants
It is announced that there has
been a slight misunderstanding con
cerning zinnia seed and zinnia plants.
The garden club states that if has
never promised to furnish zinnia seed
but only plants. The members of
this club have planted an excess of
seed and the plants will be ready for
transplanting in about . six weeks.
Those wanting plants are requested
to call Mrs. Smith Harris and make
reservations for the number of plants
desired.
' Old Landmark Gone
The. old building just across the
street from The Press office has
been razed. This building was
Owned by . Logan Allen and Uncle
John Berry and was one of the old
landmarks of Franklin. It is said
that other old buildings on Main
street are soon to be torn down. .
It is said that Mr. Alleij and Mr.
Berry have no intention of putting
a modern structure on the 16t where
their old building stood.

Mr, Lonnie Henson's store at Otto
was broken into last Monday night.
And a considerable amount of goods
such as overalls, shirts shoes, ciga
rettes and some groceries were taken.
It is said that bloodhounds were
sent for but at this writing the
result had hot been reported.

Tippitt
On April 9, 1929, the death angel
came and 'carried Unce Tom Tippit
away t6 the Great Beyond. ,
He suffered forr'a long, time with
Bright's disease, but he was patient
through it!all.; Uncle Tom was
; sixty-seven " years -: old. ; -" " He " was
always kind to' everybody. 1 Every
thing was done for him that loving
hands could do. He had many
", friends and relatives who visited him
during his illness and were always
ready to help him. It was hard
to 1 give him up but God saw best
to take him home to , rest. He
leaves to mourn his departure "a
, wife, three sons and. one, daughter.
One son having preceded him to . the
Great Beyond some' two Or three
years ago. He was a member of
the Cowee Baptisf church.
,. The funeral service was conducted
by Brother Cloer and Bradley. The
body was laid to rest in the Cowee
cemetery, to await the coming of
Jesus.
-Tuesday morning of this week the
ground was , covered with frost. It
is not believed here that the cold
. damaged the fruit to any considerable
extent.
