Forestry Blacksmith

On Thursday of last week, the
local forestry , service received word
that Charlie Douthit, who for the
past several years has occasionally
been employed by the government as
blacksmith, dropped dead from heart
failure in his shop near Kyle, Ma
con county, the preceding day.
The deceased was doing some work
for the forestry service at the time
of his death. He did not speak
after being stricken.

Mr. W. A. Berry and family of
Genet, Tenn., are visiting friends
and relatives in Macon county. While
lure Mr. Berry brought to The Press

Calloway, and Lon J. Dalton which
took pice on November 11, 1928 was
made Saturday. Mrs. Dalton is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. E.
Calloway of Franklin' while the brde
groom is the son of Mr.' and Mrs.
John H. Dalton.
The bride left last week to join
her husband in Canton, O., where
they will make their home.

Maxwell School Gets
Forestry Meeting
The forestry extension meeting
mentioned iii last week's Press will
be ehld on August 9 at 10 A. M. at
Maxwell School. The meeting will
be conducted by County Agent Fred
Sloan and will have W. R. Mattoon
and R. W. Graebar, extension forest
ers for the federal government 'and
North Carolina, respectively, in at
tendance. The meeting will be in
the open air and a large attendance
is expected.
Unless an afternoon meeting' is 're
quested by some other community
the balance of the day will be taken
up by the foresters going over the
county.1 They expect to spend several
weeks studying farm forestry con
ditions in North Carolina.
