Plenty of sweet and Irish potatoes still undug. The news has just leaked out that Miss Pearl Peek and Leeman Fox were recently wed. Best fishes to tie couple. Miss Myrtle Fulton was called to Angel Bros, .hospital Friday after moon to the bedside of her mother, Mrs. John Fulton, who had just un dergone an operation for a cancer. We - hope Mrs. Fulton will recover apidly. She is one of our leading citizens in this part 'of the county. Miss Bertha Watts, of Cartooge chaye, is now visiting her sister, Mrs. Ibises. . Mr. Ekel Lowery of Flats; was visit ing Mr, C. D. Moses this week end. No! Ten thousand times no ! We 4o not want our taxes raised to build a new jail. Law abiding citi zens are going to have no need of a prison for themselves and let the prohibition law breakers, etc., stay in the cages if they can not be wise enough to stay out of prison, Why provide such excellent beds for law breakers at the expense of we house wives. Towels made of salt sacks, pillow cases of bran sacks, sheets, qnilt linings, childrens clothes and women's clothes' of the lowly flower fogs, cottonseed meal sacks for bed ticks and quilt padding, sugar bags gof quilt "truck" handkerchiefs and many other things. Yes you make a canvas of this section of the coun try and you will 'fihd how" true" all this is. Sure I believe in economy, thrift, etc., But seems to nic like we have about gone the limit of saving 'anc 1928' --taxes , not, all paid, 1929 taxes due, and 1930 taxes soon to be listed. Bread will have to be bought before another crop '.can be raised, by nearly every ' family' in this section, besides the many other expenses that already await the aver age family. Have a little mercy on us and don't raise bur taxes for a little while, if possible. Yours, MRS. F. E. Red Cross Roll Miss Kate Parrish, teacher in the Aquone School, responded to the re quest for teachers to aid in the Red Cross roll call, and was the only teacher in the county who did re spond.
