TV MOORE'S STORE OLDEST Merchant Has Been In Busi ness Here For 57 Years What Franklin merchant has been in business longest? J. T. Moore is the man. Since he was 21 years of age Mr. Moore has been selling goods. On Feb. 16, he celebrated the fifty-seventh anniversary of his en trance into the business, of retailing. On May 24, Mr. Moore will be 80 years old. The building now occupied by J. T. Moore and company was erected in 1907 by Moore and Benbow, and has been occupied since 1908 by the store. In 1920, John E. Moore bought an interest in his father's business, and has been associated with the firm since that date. Mr. Moore's long record in busi ness is also a record of honesty and integrity. "Do unto others as , you would be done by" is the motto of the firm. SHOE REPAIRS MADE BY HORN Between Times He Compos , es Poetry; Plans To Print Book Troy Horn bought the Franklin Shoe shop from Jehu Tylar early last fall. Since that time he has been working . almost day and night to care for the business that has come the establishment. Between times, Mr. Horn writes poetry, and has col lected many hundreds of poems which he plans to put in book form at a later date. Not the least important of Mr. Horn's stanzas are the verses he uses to advertise his business. THEATRE HAS GOOD RECORD High Standards of Theatric al Entertainment Set By S. H. Lyle, Jr. S. H. Lyle, Jr., sets high standards of theatrical entertainment at the Ma con theatre, the county's only mov ing picture concern. Last fall Mr. Lyle installed vitatone equipment in the theatre, and since then has had increased patronage from people of the town and county. Among the leading feature pictures of the last few weeks have been the Hollywood Revue, The Viking, Dyna mite, and others. Since Mr. Eaton came to Franklin, the building occupied by the firm has been remodeled, a new personnel has been employed, and many new cars have been placed in Macon county.
