Elaborate Designs Worn By
Ladies Last Wed
nesday On last Wednesday afternoon, Feb.
19, the Sewing club, together with
a number of invited .guests, attended
an "Advanced Style ' Show," at the
home of Mrs. Will Sloan.
The ladies, on arriving, were tak
en at once to the salon of the noted
French designer Mme. Butterfly, who,
with her assistant, Mdme. Cherie, aid
ed each lady in choosing the style
and materials most suited to her pe
culiar style of beauty.
Mrs. Tom Slagle chose a simple,
girlish sports costume, all white. Mrs.
Jess Sloan's evening . gown of metal
lic cloth with hoop skirt, elaborate
draperies and train, created quite a
sensation. Miss Mary Allman chose
a charming costume showing the new
princess sillhouette, smart touches
being introduced in the bustle and
the coquettish , scarf she wore.
Mrs! Robert Pattern and Miss An
nie Slagle wore charming afternoon
gowns showing the new high waist
line, and long, full skirts, with most
demure bonnets. '
All of the cosumes were most strik
ing and original, particular attention
being paid to the. new sillhouette.
After the ladies were all modishly
gowned they assembled on . the lawrt
where some very striking pictures
were taken. After a short time spent
in discussion of styles in dress, man
ners, and morals of these and other
days, the guests were served a de
licious salad course by the hostess.
