Davis-Awtrcy Marriage
Ceremony In Paris
Cordial interest centers today in the
announcement made by Dr. and Mrs.
Frank Clark Davis, of the marriage
of their daughter, Miss Bonnie Sue
Davis, and Mr. Hugh Rainey Awtrey,
! the wedding having been solemnized
in Paris, France. The" bride, a lovely
blonde, was graduated from Lanier
high school, later receiving an A. B.
Degree at Wesleyan and M. A. De
gree at Mercer university. For the
last few years she has been an in
structor at Lanier high school. Her
only brother is Dr. Feltz Davis, who
is studying at the Presbyterian hos
pital . in New York.
Mr. Awtrey is a son of Judge and
Mrs. John Awtrey of Franklin, N. C,
formerly of Marietta, Georgia. He was
graduated from Mercer . university
where he was a popular member of
the A. T. O. fraternity. He later was
professor of French at Mercer and
a member of the editorial staff of
the Macon Telegraph. Dr. Atwrey
will finish his Ph. D Degree at the
Sarbonne June 1. He is now. con
nected with the Paris edition of the
New York Herald in Paris. France,
where he and his bride will reside

Final Meeting
The P.-T. A. held its final meeting
of the school year Friday afternoon
at the school house. The following
officers were elected for next year:
president, Mrs. J. E. Lancaster; vice
president, Mrs. Gus Leach; secretary,
Mrs. George Dalrymple; treasurer,
Mrs. Lyman Higdon; grade mothers'
secretary, Miss Rachel Davis.
After the business meeting the la
dies visited the Home Economics ex
hibit, where they were served de
lightful refreshments by Miss Minnie
Grace Morgan and the girls of the
Home Economics department. ,
Murray Boys
Celebrate Birthday
About fifty small friends of Fred
Joseph and John Gibson Murray 'as
sembled at their home last Saturday
afternoon, when their mother, Mrs,
Frank I. Murray, gave a party to
celebrate their birthdays, Fred's tenth
and John Gibson's seventh.
Several' of the children's mothers
were present who helped out ' with
the games played on the lawn, also
with the serving of the refreshments
which consisted of ice, cream, cake,
and pop corn.

Home Economics Exhibit .
The large number of, ladies who at
tended the Home Economics exhibit
at the school house Friday afternoon,
were much impressed by the very
excellent work done by the depart
ment during the year;
The garments on display included
dresses, underwear, children's clothing,
and infants' layettes. The material
for the layettes -was purchased by the
department and the garments are to
be given .to the Needlework guild.
The guests were served' dainty
sandwiches and punch, by the girls.
Mrs. Ashear Gives
Birthday Dinner
In celebration of the eighty-third
birthday of her grandmother, Mrs.
J. K. Bryson, Mrs. Joseph Ashear
entertained more than 20 relatives and
friends of the family at a birthday
dinner at her, home last Saturday.
A delicious and bountiful dinner was
served in the preparation of which
Mrs. Ashear was aided by Mrs. Bob
Parrish, Mrs: Grover Jamison, and
Mrs. John Moore.

Mr. Luke Howell, 71, of Franklin,
and Mamie Angel, 49, of Franklin,
were quietly married i at the home
of Oliver Ray on Bonny Crest on
May 8, Rev. J. R. Pendergrass of

The Methodist Sunday School Wom
en's club will meet with Mrs. Sam
Rogers at Roger's hall on Tuesday
evening, May 27, at 8 o'clock for a

the Christian Endeavor of the Pres
byterian church, on a camping trip
to Wayah Bald last week-end.
