The Federal "Board for vocational education sta tistics show that the farm boys be tween the ages of 14 and 20 number 111,939 and that they comprise 14.7 Ter cent of the state's entire male population. Of this number 54,055 are attending school while 57,884 are out of school Of the 54,055 who are in school only one out of 11 is receiving train ing designed to prepare him for the ominess of fanning and life on the farm. USE FOR PORCH BOUQUET Use golden rod blooms and other flowers with a strong scent as porch bouquets, but do no, bring them into the house. Their odor, in a warm room, makes some persons feel ill but in the open air their beauty may be enjoyed. Never use any flowers with a heavy perfume for table dec orations, as they may spoil the ap petite of those about the table. RICH WET LANDS MAY BE DRAINED (Continued from page .three) sical. We cannot enter extensively into a discussion of chemistry of soils, but will advise that the State agricultural colleges stand ready to aid in this matter and that the treat ment most often needed for flats after drainage is lime.. The physical properties of land are sometimes wonderfully improved by getting rid of surplus water and let ting in air and sunshine, with of course judicious cultivation. Water on land in winter does not seem to do much injury but if it is still there when warm weather sets in there results a "sourness" (be that! what it may) that hinders productive ness even t!io it dries out later. It is suspected that bacterial activity has much to do with this matter; but our problem is to get rid cf t! water if the land will then Le v.iaa the cost. ' . IF IT'S USED IN mim we mm o ?
