While there he purchased a cow from Mr. Charlie Grist. ELLIJAY Mr. and Mrs. L. Hulm, and son, Moses, and -daughter, Alma, of At lanta, are visiting Mrs. Hulm's par ents. Mr. and Mrs. T. P. Moses. They had a car wreck as they came up last Sunday. Mrs. Hulm had her foot injured and was in Angel Broth ers' hospital two days. She is slowly improving. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Bolick of Washington, D. C; are down to see Mr. Bolick's parents, Mr. . and Mrs. Moody Bolick. The children's day at Higdonville was a success. The program was carried out nicely. The quartet from East Sylva did some excellent sing ing after the program. Then dinner was .spread. There was a large num ber oresent. but all seemed to get plenty to eat. After dinner the East Sylva class' sang again. Then the Pine Grove class, led by Mr. Oscar Corbin. gave us more good music. He cut his . knee badly with an ax some time ago. Mrs. Will McCoy and Miss Kate Jones have returned from Asheville' where they made application for work at the Enka Rayon mills. Mr. W. A. Keener is home from his work at Fontana enjoying a va cation with home folks. Mrs. F. E. Mashburn and little son, James, have been sick this week. School is to open July 14 with Mr. C. D. Moses as principal and Miss Mattie Wilkes as primary teach er. Mr. Everett Mashburn has gone to Franklin to work during vacation. Weaver return ed home last Sunday evening after spending the Fourth in Dillard, Ga., and Asheville. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Nuckols motor ed over toFranklin, Waynesville, and Asheville to spend the Fourth of July. Our operation was closed down on Thursday evening of last week for the Fourth. The mill was opened again last Monday morning. Mr. Wallace Storie made a busi ness trip to Franklin last week-end. A special train was operated over the Andrews-Nantahala railroad to Buck creek on the Fourth. A large group of Ritter folks boarded the train for a fishing trip, followed by a big dinner at Buck creek.
