Pupils and teachers have improved the appearance of the school grounds by cleaning it up. Also a basketball court has been provided for the girls at the rear of the house. Clark for the past few days. Endurance Contest Certain misguided individuals have sat on top of flag poles for days on end. Fliers have staid up in airplanes for more than twenty days. Just at present boys all over the country are sitting in tree tops just to prove that Darwin was .right. But it has remain ed for a trio of Franklin citizens to start a contest unique in the annals of the town. It appears that his con test requires little exertion, no thought and a sleepy disposition. Tobe Myers, Zeb Clouse and John Angel are the originators of this novel stunt and the window ledge in front of The Press office is the place they have chosen to attain fame and glory. The Young People's Christian Union which was formed recently met at the Presbyterian church Sunday, even ing. A very interesting program had been prepared by Miss Elizabeth Mc Carty andthose' taking part in it delivered very interesting talks. Baptismal services were held at the Presbyterian church Sunday and the following became affiliated with the church: Misses Louise Edwards, and Virginia Pierson, Leon Calloway, Louis Edwards, and Claude Crunkle ton, all of this town. A delightful round dance was held at the Martin the evening of August 1. The Emory University orchestra furnished the excellent music for this thoroughly enjoyable dance. A square dance was held in Hall's pavilion by the Girl Scouts last Fri day evening. This dance was very much enjoyed by the large crowd who attended, and quite a nice sum was realized by the Scouts for their ef fort. ' .... Harris of Clemson Col lege, and Mrs. Harris,, passed through Franklin Monday on their way to Nashville. The professor is a cousin of Lyles Harris.
