Endurance Contest
Certain misguided individuals have
sat on top of flag poles for days on
end. Fliers have staid up in airplanes
for more than twenty days. Just at
present boys all over the country are
sitting in tree tops just to prove that
Darwin was .right. But it has remain
ed for a trio of Franklin citizens to
start a contest unique in the annals
of the town. It appears that his con
test requires little exertion, no thought
and a sleepy disposition. Tobe Myers,
Zeb Clouse and John Angel are the
originators of this novel stunt and the
window ledge in front of The Press
office is the place they have chosen
to attain fame and glory. They call
it a 'curb settin' contest." After stay
ing there for hours one day last week
the trio appeared perfectly . content.
Conversation troubled them not at all.
Finally when the rays of the , after
noon sun began to slant ; in the di
rection -of the three Tobe remarked :
"It's gettin' sorta hot." Zeb got up
and departed after announcing that
there was too much conversation to
suit him. A woman came along with
a pair of ,shoes to bo mended which
took John away. This left Tobe -alone
in all his glory. How Ion? he sat
there is a matter of conjecture. How
ever, Tobe claims to have, won the
contesl bv a matter of three hours.
