What does, it mean to a man" What is man? Ih the story of crea tion there is a picture of man as he ' relates to other created things. ! Briefly the picture is this. God created the heavens and the earth and made them to His own liking. There was water and dry land. The sun, moon, and stars appeared. A fruitful climate was established in which all kinds of vegetation sprang up. The animal kingdom was established. But this was only the* setting. The crowning event of ail was the creation of man to have dominion over all these things. Not only so, but man was given the distinction of being made the last in the order of creation, and man was made in the image of God. This was not an ordinary creature, but one who had in him something that made him like God and akin to God. Much later a great man in medi tation looked up into the heavens. As he began to comprehend- the immensity of the universe and the clocklike precision of the sun, moon, and the stars, he exclaimed, "When I consider Thy heavens, the work of Thy fingers; the moon and the stars, which Thou hast ordain ed; what is man that Thou art mindful of him?" Even so today, as one thinks of the multiplied millons of people on the earth, one is inclined to belittle himself and think that he is so insignificant that nothing matters what hnppens to him. Still the answrr comes, "Thou hast made him a little low er than the angels, and hast crown ed him with glory and honour. Thou hast put all things unior his feet." Man! What a being! Recognize yourself? Well, most of us un fortunately have been . something less than men at times. We have taken on beastly qualities, and sometimes it is difficult to dis tinguish the man from the beast. There are too many Dr. Jekyls and Mr. Hyde's. "Be a man, my son." Mrs. C. L. Allison, Mrs. C.
