GRAND JURY MAKES
REPORT ON COUNTY
PROPERTY, SCHOOLS
To hi> Hoikat \Cm. H. Bobbit,
Judge presiding?We, the Grand
Jury wi>h tu make the following
report: T;ie State Prison camp at
Whit tier was vi.-.ted and found to
be in excellent condition.
We have examined the offices of
the court house and find them to
be in good condition.
At the county jail we found the
heating sy.-tern inadequate, and
recommend something be done
about thi> before winter. We also I
recommend new screen wire for
all of the jail windows and outside
doors and that the door between
the men's and Women's quarters be
removed and a solid wall be built.
The brick wall on the West side
to be repaired.
The county home was found to
be in good condition. The build
ing, stock, farm machinery, and
supplies well taken care of.
The schools could not be visited
all over the county but we recom
mend that the proper authorities
inspect all buildings before the be
ginning of the fall term and see
that they are in good condition.
We have been informed that the
children of about 35 families in
Canada Township, Charlie's Creek
school, have been deprived of
school facilities for the past two
years, and we recommend that
these children be provided with
the proper school priviledges.
Respectfully submitted,
W. S. Alexander, Foreman

THIS ONE DIDN'T GET AWAY
Dr. Harold McGuire, local dentist, shown above is holding the
brown trout he hooked in Glenville lake last Thursday afternoon. The
fish was 23 inches long and weighed ? pounds and 2 ounces and is said
to be the largest trout ever caught in this section. Dr. McGuire caught
the trout on a plug while trolling for bass. After a considerable fight,
and not having a net, he landed the fine specimen by hand. The trout
has been on display at Sossamon Furniture Company all week and has
drawn much attention.
