"Theatre In The Sky", will bring
the play, Stepping Sisters, to
Sylva Friday evening at 8:30 in
the Elementary school auditorium.
His twenty years experience in
the Theatre covers such varied
fields as Ballet, Grand Opera,,
Musical Comedy, and the Drama
tic Stage. A designer of marked
ability, Mr. Geoffrey's flair for
color and lighting effects vies with
a natural bent for outstanding
pictures and dramatic headlights.
Mr. Geoffrey is now in his third
season as Directs r of the Tampa1
Little Theatre and will supervise
all productions during the com
ing season of the "Theatre In The
Sky." ,

theatre parties from nearby towns'
are expected for the opening here.
Next week the company will
present "Lombardi, Ltd." with
Dave Chamberlain, guesl artist,
rppearing in the leading role of
Tito Lombardi.

Cullowhee Church
Groups Meet Jointly
The Cullowhee Young Women's
Association will meet with the
Culluwhee Baptist Missionary So
ciety next Tuesday in an all-day
meeting, in order to furnish to
the society a program telling of
the YWA as>embly which was i
held at Ridgecrest in June. It was |
through the help of the society \
that the six girls were able to at- j
tend the assembly.
The YWA group met last Mon- i
day with Miss Phyllis Cagle, in
structor at Cullowhee high school
in home economics, in its regular
meeting.
The trip to Ridgecrest was at
tended by the following members

Eastern Star, held a regular busi
ness meeting at Dillsboro Masonic
Lodge on Wednesday, July 9. Mrs.

| Annual Picnic
On Monday evening the mem
bers of the Woman's club with
their husbands and other invited
guests, had their annual picnic at
the new picnic grounds, recently
equipped for picmking by the
Lion's club and the town of Sylva,
near the Community house.
Following the delicious picnic
supper served to the 37 people at
tending, an hour of fun was en
joyed. Games and short stories
told by different guests furnished
amusement.

daughter, Nancy, have been visit
ing Dr. Jarrettt's parent, Mr. and
Mrs. R. F. Jarrett, at Dillsboro.

CECIL E. BLANTON is now lo
cated in Sylva as representative
of the Mutual Life Insurance Com
pany, of New York. Mr. Blanton
began his work here July 1. He
recently completed an intensive
training course at the company's
school in Charlotte.
Mr. Blantofi^is a native of Jack
son county, having graduated from
Sylva high schoql. He spent 5
years in the Army Air Corps dur
ing World War II.

Meets With Mrs. Scroggs
The Ruby Daniel circle of the
W. M. U. met with Mrs. Porter
Scroggs last Thursday evening.
There wefe nine members-present
and one visitor, Mrs. Crawford
Smith, president of the Women's
Missionary Society.
Mrs. Scroggs, president, pre
sided over the business session,
after which the program was in
charge of Mrs. Grayson Cope, as
sisted by Mrs. Charlie Campbell.
The topic for the program was
China.
The program was followed by
a social hour, during which the
hostess served refreshments.
