Figu res Show i Led Others In The Great Smoky Mountains National Park which led all other national paiks in number of vis itors during travel year ending September 30, attracted 132,906 persons in October, according to Superintendent Blair Ross. In Oc tober li*46, 111,541 persons visited the park. Official figures released from "Washington discloses that the Great Smoky total for 1946-47 was 2,186,748, while the second most popular park was Mount Ranier with 1,067,979. A wire service dispatch oiU of Smoky Park Popularity Washington recently said that other national parks were ahead of the Great Smokies and listed Lake Mead at the top but Mr. Ross explained that Lake Mead and certain others on the list were na tional recreation areas and not na tional parks. The Smokies attendance increase for the travel year was up three per cent compared with the pre vious year.
