Rominger of Canton, Ohio, died at her home there Sun day, April 4, with funeral services held the following Tuesday in the First Baptist church of which she was a member. Mrs. Rominger is survived by her husband and one daughter, Wanda, of Canton, Ohio; two sis-1 ;ers, Mrs. Herschel Ashe and Mrs.! Frank Russell of Sylva; three bro-| thers, Dillard Cope, Sylva, J. C. Cope, Charlotte and Pearley CopeL of Lynch Station, Virginia. A native of Jackson cotinty, she lived here until 1924 when she went to Canton where she has since made her^home. C. Miss Barrett Presents Graduate Piano Recital Miss Jeanne Barrett, senior at the Converse College School of Music, Spartanburg, S. C., present, er her graduate piano recital in Twichell Auditorium at the Col lege at 8:30' on Friday evening, April 9. Miss Barrett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Barrett, Dillsboro,! entered Converse on a competi tive scholarship which she won in' 1944. She is a pupil of Alfred j M. White. Before entering Con verse she studied with Mrs. Grov-' er Wilkes of Sylva and with Mark! Hoffman of Greensboro college. During the 2 years of her stay in Spartanburg, Miss Barrett has been active in many College acti vities. She is a member of the Converse College Chorus and has assisted with the production of Spartanbudg Music Festival ope ras. Recently she wa* elected to membership in Pi Kappa Lam ba, national honorary musical so ciety of which the Rho Chapter was established at Converse in 1938. Miss Barrett has been doing practice teaching for the past two years as a part of her musical edu cation. In 1947 one cf her students won the annual Sonatina contest, gro" by Franz Schubert and "Sym The program which Miss Barrett presented Friday evening is as follows: "Sonata in A-major: Alle gro" byFranz Schubert and "Sym phonic Etudes" by Robert Schu mann. Following the recital she held a reception for faculty mem bers and friends in the College parlors. Bad weather cut down last year's corn crop so that it was the small est in 11 years.
