was elected temporary chairman

will be held at Enka on an invita
tion from Mr. Salley and his as
sistant chief C. C. Robertson. A
prior invitation had been extend
ed by Chief D. W. Merr.ll of Bre
vard, but he withdrew his invita
tion so that the next meeting could
be at a more central location in an
effort to draw more ef the Western
Carolina departments in for the
organizational meeting, which will
also be a dinner meeting furnished
by Enka. Invitations will be sent
to all of the departments West
of the BHie Rid^e,mchk&mg in
dustrial fire departments, which
many plants, s^ph as The Mead
Corporation,. maintain.

Monday's meeting was a sound
ing out session to see if enough
departments were interested in
an organization of this type to
make it a permanent one. It was
the opinion of all at the meeting
that the organization could be
come of great help and benefit to
every department.
