English Family Is
Made Happy By Gifts
From Sylva Cihldren
Mrs. Glenn Hughes, teacher in
the Sylva Elenj^ntary school, has
received a lette/ from an English
family{their sincere
gratitude for gift boxes given by
her students through the Red
Cross for relief of families in Eng
land. ..The children here made
their last spring before
school "closed for the summer.
The letter to Mrs. Hughes reads
as follows:
Crewkerne, Somerset,
England.
Dear mfe'Glenn Hughes:
Will-Sit please convey my thanks
to thtfjKle ones, who helped to
makeNup the delightful little boxes
of gifts, sent to the British Red
Cross.
My two children were thrilled
to receive a box each.
My husband has been very ill
for & year, and I still have him in
bed, and I am afraid we have been
up against very hard times. But
to see the little faces of our little
ones light up, when they opened
up their gift boxes, did our hearts
good, to see them happy.
At the present everything here
in England i& so dear so I am
afraid there is a lot they have to
do without.
( Our little boy^will be five years
next month, ^ni/he's been going
to school since Afcril. Our little
daughter was two years old last
May/
I feel I must ask you again to
thank your class for the boxes we
received.
Yours sincerely,
(Mrs.) D. Cook
