PROGRESS BEIN6 MADE ON CLUB HOUSE EOR LEGION QUARTERS William E. Dillard Post Has Reached 100 Mem bership To Place It Ninth In State According to a report in the September edition of North Car olina Legion News the William E. Dillard Post No. 104, American Legion, of Jackson county was in 9th place for 1948 membership. Since this edition was published another report of names for mem bership fcr this post has been sent in. The Post now has 100 paid memberships for 1949. With the work moving on the annex to the Club house, on which the Legion has a 20-year lease, it is hoped that the building will be finished and ready lor dedication by November 11. The new addition will have two rest rooms, one assembly room, and a service officer's quarters. It will be equipped with a hot air heating system, which will be in stalled right away and the kitchen will be worked over. A new roof and other improvements are also being made to the building. One of our go-getters wrote 55 j new and renewal memberships i last year and has gone on to beat that record this year, having al ready written 85 memberships Let's all get on our toes and make this a real year of outstanding work and service for our veterans. Just mail your card right back, if it's a renewal. If a new membership j give us- the proper information along with your card. The following members have been elected to attend the Na tional Convention to be held in Miami, Fla., in October: Rev. W. Q. Grigg, L. H. Higdon, D. M. Tal lent, George Sloan, and Felix Picklesimer. Except for the 1944 crop, Irish potatoes have been in heavy supply every year since the price support program became effective. Potatoes are now off the ration list in Britian.
