Velt's Quint Drops
Underwood's 50-31
Revenge came in a big nunk
Monday night lor the Velt's Cafe

wood's of Waynesville 50-31 in
the Sylva School gym.

Velt's 40-24 in Waynesville, but
with Ike Olson and Ferris Bryson

Tne first half was comparatively
slow. At halftime the Sylva quint
held a 13-11 advantage but Olson

Sylva's girls will be out for their
first win, having tied Cullowhee
19-all and dropping a 41-21 ver
dict to Clyde. The boys will be
after their second victory having
beaten Cullowhee 27-25 and drop
ping a 27-26 game to Clyde.
Coach James Barnwell is still
optimistic about his teams. His
boys are tall and could develop
into a conference power, and if
two or three girls come through
they should win some games also.
The Nantahala teams, boys and
girls, are reportedly loaded for
bear?the bruin being Syva High.
Farmers' cash receipts from
marketing during 1948 will total
slightly larger than last year, ac
cording to present estimates.

A total of 55 students of Sylva
High were named on the honor roll
for the second six weeks term.
The group is divided into two
classes , the "A" and the "B".
