DIRECTIONAL SIGNS I
BY SYLVA CHAMBER
Several large signboards have 1
been placed on highway approaches
to Sylva recently by the Chamber
of Commerce in an effort to publicize
Sylva's tourist business and
increase the number ol' tourists
visiting the town.
The two newest signc are those
near Cashiers, located on the Rosamond
highway and on the Highlands
highway, so placed as to be
noticed by tourists coming toward
Sylva. The two signs are ten feet
by twelve and are not yet finished.
Construction has been finished but
painting has not yet been completed.
Recently there was also constructed
a larger sign at Ela.
Erection of the signboards is a
part of the Chamber of Commerce's
effort to increase the use of tourist
facilities in Sylva and Jackson ^

The number of tourists in western
North Carolina is higher than
