COUNTY LIBRARY LENT 13,000 BOOKS , LAST YEAR More than 13,000 books were checked out of the Jackson county public library during the past year Mrs. Mae Stallcup, librarian, reported. Considering the fact that there are only 4100 books l^pon the library's shelves, the figures show an extensive use of the library's facilities. Adult Fiction was the type literature most read during the year, 5,942 of that catagory being bor Towed from the library. Children's fiction was not far behind with a total of 4,954. The Mayor warned that if the persons responsible were caught the penalty would be severe. "I hope that the parents of all small boys in town will make sure that their boys are not the ones who are breaking these lights", he said. Ed Ashe, former Swain County resident; died in Newport, News, Va., Monday morning. Funeral services were held in Newport News Tuesday morning after which the body was taken to Swain county where another service was held at the Lauada church Wednesday morning. LUX Flakes Large 25c * Funeral Held For Mrs. Pressley In Franklin Mrs. William Pressley, 80, a native of Cullowhee, but who had lived in Franklin for the past 30 years, died at her home at noon Monday following a two weeks' illness. Funeral services were held at 10 o'clock yesterday at the home with the Rev. C. E. Murray, pastor of the Franklin Methodist church, and Rev. W. N. Cook, retired Baptist minister of Franklin, officiating. Burial was in the Franklin cemetery. Pallbearers were the following grandsons: Dee Frye, Bert Ferguson, Gene Green, Ervin Dowdle, Clarence Brendle, and Lester Green, Jr. Mrs. Pressley, the former Dovie ! Shelton, was born in Cullowhee ] in 1870. She was the daughter of the late Alex and Martha Muikey I Shelton.
