Mars Hill College Band which
rode in a wagon drawn by two of

After the parade was over came

ian Church a t Asheville. Dr.
Campbell delivered a splendid ad
dress and was heard by a full
house, On Friday night came
the recitation and declamation
contest participated by the select
ed'graduates of " the various 'pub
ic schools of the pounty. Two
medals were offered, one by the
Citzen's Bank of Marshall for the
best declaration, one b y
Bank of Frennch Broad for the
best recitation. The girl's medal
was won by Miss Trissie Ammons.
Miss Ammons frequently
brought the house down." Her
recitation was equal, in its deliv
ery, to any that w e have ever
neard. All agreed that she was
deserving of t h e medal. The
medal offered for the best decla
mation was won by Vance Brown
but close to him were Clarence
Eller and John McElroy. It was
rather diflcult for the judges t o
decide between these three. All
of the contestants did well 1 n
both the contests. The declama
tion medal was delivered by E.
Zeph Ray a n d the recitation
medal by Miss Carry Kinsland.
There were eighty-eight grad
uates who recieved diplomas from
the county Superintendent, Prof.
R. G. Anders. The diplomas,
or rather certificates of comple
tion of the seventh grade work,

members of the Board of Educa.
