The principal of one of the leading United States
Indian training schools of the West sends the Amer

plannation that members of the faculity have been re
ceiving circular letters from whisky mail order
houses so frequently that they are becoming exaspe
rated. The reply to the whiskey letter which is here

fj A Whisky Man's Letter.
N January 15, 1915.
II Dear Sir:
m What woul(1 you not give for a speaking acquaint-
' ance with a sure enough fourteen year old whisky
!j drawn from barrels with rusting hoops and time
ii warped staves, and ladennot with germs, microbes,
if bacteria, bacilli, spirilli, and other fuzzy parasites
j but with the tonic of rejuvenation and the fragance of ;
U the early morn. ;
Its perfect mellowness, its pristine purity, its
I venerable age, its: beautiful amber color, its prdor, '
make an aesthetic appeal to those who differentiate
whiskies soley on the basis of merit. To the man who
I . regards all whiskey as good whiskey we have no
message. - '
The name of the' brand is " ," typifying
bouquet and the perfume of the flowers.
The enclosed postal is for your convenience In
orderirg and indicates special terms to you. .Mail the
card now while you think of it.
Very truly yours,
I School Man's Reply.
! January, 20, 1915.
Answering your
circular of Jan. 15. :
Sirs: , '-.' :. .
: -v What wouiI not give for jwAtUng-auaintanc v
which would give me the power to burst every bar- '7
rel hoop, every bottle, every demijohn, every recept
able perverted to the holding of lie fuzy booze which
is laden with the germs, bacteria, or bacilli of dissi
pation, depravity, poverty ; ignorance, insanity and
crime; which has the power" to rejuvenate the davil-
which is the tonic which produces despair; which ex
hales the sour belch of the jhlear-eyed drunk and ' the
nauseous vomitings which- follow; which maires the
early morn to be desecrated! with the snore3, groans,
slobberings, spewings, oaths and obscenity of drink
crazed, trembling, besotted ; booze-fightersT 7
Their perfect mellowness and rottenness, their
revolting impurity, are not venerable on account of
, age or lack of it. The color of their noses approaches!
amber, and their indelicate odor makes no aesthetic
appeal to my nose. The only way I have of differen
tiating between whiskies is by their results, and they
are all damnablr bad. To the man who regards any
whiskey as good, I have a message: BEWARE!
The name of your brand, or of any other, on bot
tle, flask or jug, typifies the bouquet and perfume
of the sensual and degrading only. It lures young,
men and women to worse than death, it attacks the
very heart and soul of our nation.
I enclose no postal for.1 your convenience, butl
pray God I may some day enclose a ballot in a well
guarded box for your inconvenience.
Very truly, but not yours,

Why Wheat is High
(From The Wall Street Journal)
The extent to which European
countries with access to the sea
have been possessing themselves
of wheat since the beginning of
Aucrust is indicated by a recent
letter from Rome to Broomhall's
Under date of Jaunnary 10. this
correspondent wrote to'London. .
In addition to the quamties of
wheat unloaded 'in the port of
Genoa during the last few days
and forwarded inland, on the 5th
instant, 348,200 quarters of wheat
were stored in the warehouse.
Seven shins were being unloaded
with 159,000 quarters of wheat,
and 22 other steamers . with car
goes of 555,800 quarters of wheat
were awaiting to be unloaded.
there w e r e , in all, 1,063,000
quarters of wheat in the port of
Genoa. A ' lanre nnmhop- nt
ships loaded with wheat are.
furthermore about to arrivn fc
Genoa."
That means that on the data
given there were 8.500.000 bus.
