COLEMAN RAMSEY EDITOR On "Vmmr SIjc month Thraa Month I.OO .SO .as Entered as second-class mail matter June 18th 1907, at the P staff ice at Marshall. N. C. under the Act a Congress of March 3, 1879. FRIDAY. July 9th, 1915. On Monday July 5, the O 1 Liberty Bell was started from its home in Philadelphia to San Francisce, Cal., to be on exhibi tion for a while at the exposition This is the largest trip ever planned for Ibis Symbol" of our freedom and we hope for it a safe trip. Last week we were talking with a party who contemplates starting a chicken farm in t h near furture. W e think t h man or woman who tries this in earnst will meet with successs here. As elswhere such an in du.stry would certainly be a pay ins proposition. If our own cit izens will not enter the fields open t o them we welcome the stranger who will. Better not try to get rich Last week an assasin entered the home of J. P. Morgan the leading financier of the country and a t tempted to kill him by shooting him twice. The man who gave his name at Holt is a former in structor i n Cornell University and of course was a highly edu cated man. Just what the state of his mind was and what his in tentions were no one seems t o know, for only the day before he tried to kill Mr. Morgan he had exploded a bomb in the capitol at Washahigton doing a consid erable damge to the building. And we are still having inquiries from tourists for accommodation for the summer motnhs. The writer asks for a hotel or board ing house upon some point on a hill where plenty of fresh air can be had. We hate to have to tell such parties that we have no such con veniences here, For many sum mers past scores of people have asked for a place to spend their vacation and we have had to tell them that we did not have the place for them. 1 1 is hoped that some one will seethe opportunity and take advantage of it The fans who witnessed the ball game here Saturday between Weavervilla and Marshall cer tainly got the worth of their money. Two games had been scheduled for the afternoon but the teams proved so evenly matched that only one game was played, lasting for 16 full innings with the score of 2 to 1 in favor of Marshall. Weiaverville scored one run in the fourth and Mar shall tied them in the fifth, from then it was a battle royal untill the last of the sixteenth inning when Marshall made another score and won the game. A large crowd visited the game and thoroughly enjoyed it. In Mcmcriam Whereas, it has pleased our heavenly Father, all-wis Ruler of the Universe to take unto Him self the beloved father of our dear brother, ' D. T. Ilaynie, in manifestafion of our grief and fraternal sympathy, be it . Resolved, That the members of Jewell Hill Lod-e No. L O. O. Committee, J. P. Miles, C. H. Briggs, J. B. Hyder. The Memorial Celebration. A large crowd gathered at the Station Cemetery Sunday for the Annual meeting of the Woodmen of the World. A very entertain ing programme was carried out and the picnic and social gather ing during the noon hour was thoroughly enjoyed by all pre sent many bountiful baskets of eatables being spread for the oc casion, lne music furnished ny the different classes was of the best and those who made the ef fort to get up the programme are to be congratulated for the suc cess of the day.
