SPECKS ON TOBACCO LEAVES In traveling over the countyh there has been several of the men asking about their tobacco leaves spotting. This is a small brown spot on the leaf that does not seem to spread. We think the cause of that is due to the rain. The tobacco has grown very fast and the rain -drops hit the leaf and then the hot sun scalds this spot. We do not think that is either Angular Leaf Spot or Wild Fire. We have collected some leaves to send to Dr. Wolfe at Duke University for ex- amination. I trouble, that the first treatment for worms would rid them. There was a post mortem held on some of the sick b'rds and found that the birds had Muco-enterit:-. This is a new disease of poultry and very little work has been done as to the particulars of the disease. The disease affects the intestine of the bird and completely close.? the intestine. Therefore, the second treatment for worms would be injurious to the bird and they I should not be treated more than nec essary. i LIABILITIES Capital Stock Paid In ... ji 25,000.00 Surplus Fund 50,000.00 Undivided Profits (Net i Amount) 3,788.14 Reserved for Interest 1,000.00 Reserved for Depreciation 10,000.00 Other Deposts Subject to Check 214,684.23 Deposits Due State of North Carolina and Any Official Thereof: Secur ed; Unsecured 124,843.70 Demand Certificates of Deposit (Due in Less Than 30 Days) 184,372.8ff Cashiers Checks Out standing 1,362.80 1 Savings Deposits (Due on or After 30 Days) 39,661.45 The, new 4-H Camp for Western jNotth Carolina at Sannanoa ppen ,ed Monday morning with 100. girls from Madison, Buncombe, Ruther- ioMj .and Hendirson counties., This ! camp is situated back of OrnvAmnnf about 1 mile from the Black Mdun- 15,300.00 ,r.ain highway in the heart of the Blue 20,000.00 , lalf Mountains. on There in mid8t of moun 2O.000.00 I tains and wild flowers enough space 40,154.24 , haa been cleared to. build the main 8,898.14 camp bu lding which includes the di ning, recreation halls and kitrhan A lake is under construction in front ui tne main building.
