4 DEATH OF REV. WILLIAM
ERVIN ALLEN
Rev. William Ervin Allen died at
his home in the Mashburn Gap April
6, 1930. He was 83 years old m
January before his death. The fu
neral services were from his home,
April 8.
Brother Allen was born January
16th, 1847. He was married in 1874
to Miss Sarah Cale Mashburn, and to
this wedlock were born three children
as follows: Mrs. Texanna Banks, of
Marshall; Mrs. Savada Blankenship,
of Asheville; and Mrs. Joe Alice Rob
ertson, of Fairmont, Ga.
He was converted at the age of 29
years, and was baptized by Rev. W.
A. Robertson? He then joined the
Concord Baptist church of Yancey
County, but for the past 16 years he
has been a member of Davis Chap
el church, and was an active member
until about 3 years ago, when his
health failed him.
Before his death, Brother Allen
requested that Rev. N. H. Griffin and
Rev. Cecil Reece conduct his funeral.
They were assisted by his pastor, Rev.
Henry Rice. He also requested that
the 14th chaDter of St. John be read.
The deceased is survived by his
nridow. Mrs. William Allen of Mar
shall, the above named children, four
sisters, Mrs. Louise Crane of Califor
nia; Mrs. Tommy Crane, of Flag
Pone, Tenn., Mrs. Gabriel Coats of
Flag Pond, Tenn.; and Mrs. Jess Bax
ter, of Marion, N. C.
He is also survived by the following
nephews: D. C. Allen, of Gaffney, S.
C.; Robert Allen, Kings Mountain, N.
C; Gust Allen, Gastonia, N. C;
-George Allen, Buckner; and Clausell
Allen, Waverly, N. C. He had 14
grandchildren and 8 great grandchil
dren. Brother Allen was a member of
the Masonic Lodge and served as a
soldier in the Civil War.
Mr. Allen, or "Uncle Bill," as he
was sometime called, will be greatly
missed by all who knew him, but we
feel our loss is Heaven's gain, for
God knows best.
His suffering was great, but he
waited patiently for the end, when
he could see his friends in Glory, to
say good-bye no more.
He was laid to rest i n the County
Home cemetery, near his home.
" The pallbearers were, Messrs Ar
thur Crows, Bob Crowe, Cammy Da
vis, Joe Taylor, Oscar Davis, Rossie
Treadway, and Johnnie Davis.

What a Difference
90 Days VIake
Ioday a Toddling Chick . . in 90 days
n nrrnid millet ahonf to lavi There's some-
thing to think about! Tiny boner and little
muscles have grown several times in size .
a delicate fuzz has sprouted into hundreds of
feathers . a chick weighing grams has grown
into a pullet weighing pounds . . , all io. 90
short days! 1
A wonderful change . . . and. only one thing can
do it..,. good feed! This year consider Purina
Startena Chow (mash) iand Porina- Chick Chow
(scratch) or All-Mash Startena Chow for the first
six weeks . . . and then Purina Growena and Purina
Intermediate Hen Chow until your pullets are lay
in& at 16 weeks.
Put these Chows before your chicks. You will
see pullets that are built right . . . pullets that will
lay eggs aplenty in fall and winter when eggs are
always worth good money.
