Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ebbs of Ashe 5 ville were in Marshall Thursday morn i.ing of last week, attending: the box supper of the Eastern Stars and vis Siting; her sister, Mrs. Ralph Fisher. Mr. James Baley, Jr., was in Greensboro to attend the Adelphian dance at Woman's college Saturday night. He returned to Marshall Sun day evening. Mr. D. M. Shoffner, G. W. McPher son, and Charles Johnston of Bur lington, N. C, were the guests of Misses Gladys and Eva Rogers Sunday. and Petersburg, Va. He is now in the main office of the power com pany by which he is employed. Mr. J. Morgan Ramsey has been confined this week to his home on ac count of illness. Miss Louella White, who has been spending several days in Marshall with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. White, returned to Hickory Monday, where she holds a position. Miss Beulah Sams spent the week end in Asheville with her father and friends. Mrs. C. P. Marony, Mrs. E. E. Ram sey, and Mrs. L. L. Storey spent Tues day in Asheville. Mr. and Mrs. 0. S. Bradford have returned from an extended trip to Florida and other southern points. Before returning they stopped iat Morristown, Tenn, and visited Dr. and Mrs. J. T. M. Knox. Mr. W. J. F. Plemmons of Luck was in Marshall Tuesday and paid The News-Record a visit. Mr. Wm. V. Farmer has returned from a delightful and extended trip to Florida and other southern points. Friends of Mr. Everett Frisby, for merly of Marshall, will he interested to know that he has been transferred to Richmond, Va. from his former position at Roanoke Rapids, N. C, Misses Marjorie Sawyer and Jeanne Sprinkle, who are attending Mars Hill college, spent the week-end here with their parents. Misses Sarah Jarrett and Pauline Livesay, also stu dents at Mars Hill, were the week-end guests of Miss Sawyer and Miss Sprinkle. Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Dodson and daughter, Miss Frances, were in Ashe ville Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Jonah Tweed and daughter, Miss Ruth Tweed, spent Friday in Black Mountain. Mrs. C. E. CANDY PULL Friday, March 1, 1935 The new residence of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Runnion, on the Mars Hill road is nearing completion. Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Rogers have recently completed their residence, it being partly completed for some time. A new residence is being erected by Mr. and Mrs. Neal Houston, on the Mars The split in the old Bull Creek church is culminating in one faction of the church withdrawing and build ing another church. The foundations ' were laid and superstructure started last week. It is located on the op posite side of the road from Mr. R. F. Tillery's. The new church will call itself "Old Bull Creek Baptist church" while the old church will be called "Bull Creek Baptist church," we vere informed. The candy pull for members of P. T.
