Do you like the word 'tote'?
it's a good Southern word that no
. other word can define if Web-
, star defines
it he'll probably say
I 'cany' but that is not exactly the
meaning of tote we'd carry a
glass of champaign or a bridesmaid's
bouquet, but tote it never
we tote potatoes from the garden of
course maybu the things we
do not like to carry, we tote and
vice versa anyway, my friend
who lives in Virgina says she can
hire colored help reasonably be
cause all help 'totes' she ex
plained that the help always put
food left from the day
s meals in a
basket and toted it home at night
wonder if one day the French
Broad River will be a dry creelt bed
can remember when it carried
about three times the amount of wa
ter it does now used to see
cattle driven across the river when
the water was low in the fall
cows swimming all the way, with
just the head above the water
cows are good swimmers, too, if
kept calm not enough water
now to hide a cow if she laid down,
