Ralph W. Ram sey, issuing officer for the Coun ty ASC Committee, said that so far as he knew, this would be the first time in the history of the marketing quota program that cards would be issued to the producers of this county by mail. Failure on the part of the farm operator to properly use and return his card after completing his marketing constitutes a violation of the mar keting quota regulations for which he is subject to penalty and reduction of his allotment. In conclusion it was pointed out that only within quota cards would be mailed to the producers, and that excess or zero percent excess cards would be issued to the operators at the ASC office., It was explained that an excess .1 i.; n f f utViijtli nnnalll I (tax at 44c per lb. on the excess) must be paid on the tobacco Tn excess of the farm quota. A zero I percent card is one on which no penalty is due, but the farm is ineligible ior price support oe- cause the operator failed to act within the 10 day limit in making application to dispose of his ex cess acreage. The 1956 record reveals that the 1200 farms which exceeded their quota, all but 4 farms voluntarily disposed of their excess acreage so as to evade payment of the 44c per lb. penalty on the excess. - A I... i i A IT Trie tion, Wish To Thank The Voters Of Madison County iror Their Expressions Of Confidence.
