Grose, observed the QirUrtmmi season with varied activities. Be ginning at Thanksgiving they used for devotional reading the Bible selections suggested by the American Bible Society for worldwide Bible reading. The class learned a number of traditional Christmas carols aa part of their music study during December. Included in the group -were the German processional "Ye Watchers and Ye Holy Ones," the Austrian carol "As Lately We Watched," the French carol "AiiKels We Have Heard on Hig'h," "Lo How A Rose E'er Blooming," "Timothy's Carol," "I Wonder As I Wander," a carol discovered in the North Carolina mountains by John Jacob Niles, and the spiritual "Go Tell It On the Mountain." The English car ol, "The Twelve Days of Christ mas" was also sung by the class. Christmas decorations planned and carried out by the students included paper chains festooned from the ceiling, a tree which was decorated with strings of popcorn in addition to other ornaments, and a manger scene constructed by the students. Following tile Christmas party on December 19, a committee composed of David Conner, J. B. Reid and Bruce Ramsey accom panied by Mrs. Gross took food, clothes and toys which had been W.N.C. Telephone Co. WEAVERVILLE, N. C. collected by the members of the class to a family who had ex pressed their willingness to let the class share these things with them. The family was away when tjhe committee arrived so they put up a small tree and decorat ed it and arranged the manger scene for the five children to find when they returned. As a final Christmas activity a number of the members of the class sang carols at a service at the Marshall Baptist Church on December 19. Following this they enjoyed social hour at the home of the teacher. LOW HOME DEDICATED Savannah, Ga. In the pres ence of more than 1,000 Girl Scouts and their leaders, Mrs. Roy F. Layton, national Girl Scout president, dedicated the 132-year-old birthplace of Juliette Gordon Low, founder of the Girl Scouts in Savannah, Ga. Harry B. Dit-" more Jr., 25, son of Dr. and Mrs. J.'1" H. B. Ditmore, Marshall, recently ' t completed the company level of- licrr course at the Army Medical Service School, Fort Sam Houe- ton, Tex. The 22-week course trained hun in the tactical, administrative, and professional duties of a com pany level medical officer. Captain Ditmore is a 1953 graduate of Harvard Medical School.
