The May term of superior court for the trial of criminal cases Will begin here. Monday morning with Judge George B. Patton pre siding. Robert Swain is the so licitor. 1 A heavy" docket of more than 150 cases are scheduled for the one-week term. The. murder trial of State vs. Robert Johnson is on the docket for the term. Johnson is charged with the murder cf Clyne Everett Rector on Roberts Hill Road last March 17. The shooting occurred about 9 :45 o'clock at night when Rector and Johnson's daughter, Betty, --18, a Walnut High School senior, were returning to her home after attending a basketball game here. Following the shooting, John son drove to Asheville and enter ed the Aston Park Hospital where he remained a patient until a few weeks ago. He is now at bis home in Walnut. GILMER MAYNARD SAYS HE SHOT IN SELF-DEFENSE 1 One Killed, One Wounded Near County Line " Friday Gilmer Maynard, a service sta tion owner and operator, has been charged with killing one man and wounding another in a gun battle near the Madison County-Tennessee State line last Friday night. The shooting occurred just over the line in Tennessee, officers said. Lord, Madison County Health' Director, has an nounced that Rabies Clinics have been scheduled for some areas in Madison County on June 6 and 8. The clinics will be conducted by licensed veterinarians of Ashe ville, and a charge of one dollar per animal vaccinated will be made. Dogs should be vaccinated by the time they attain the age of six months; one injection will af ford protection against, rabies for three years. In Madison County there are only two contests the race for representative and the comission ers' race. In tfhe representatives' contest, Liston B.
