MADISON GUN CLUB
GUEST EDITORIAL
By
LEE SLUDER
Secretary, Local Club i
t L (
The Madison Gun' Club, organized November 1 ,
1961, is a growing and interesting club with a mem
bership of nearly 25 and many new prospects. j .?
The club is affiliated with the National Rifle As-'
eociation and Director of Civilian Marksmanship s
Department of the Army. A 100 membership;
plaque was presented the club recently by the N.R.Av"''
, and D.C.M., en honor many clubs of long stendnjg
ido. not have. 'C""
1 Lee Sluder, secretary of the local club, says the, ?
.intend Jo promote all types of shooting; such as nfljfe,
pistol, and shotgun type.
.' 7 The rifle shooting includes small bore and hfeh
powered with prone, sitting, kneeling, and tfananJsr
positions being emphasized. The trend in Interna
tional shooting is toward position shooting. The Rus
sians have beat the American teams in the Olympics
because they pushed position shooting while ottr s
- teams concentrated on prone positions. We beftt
them in prone positions. Our group realizes the m f
that we have to shoot iall positions to Win.
Pistol shooting is fired at targets arid silhouette tar-x
irets for peace officers. The officers cdurse is called
the PracticaJ Pistol, Course (P. P. C ) and is ver in
teresting for all shooters. Regular shooting of pistol
jS at round targets 25 and 50 yards away.

At present the Madison Gun Club has an out

Let's all get together and push this civic, non-

competition and good sportsmanship and are ideally ......
suited for making a success of such a project.
