McINTOSH Three "Thanks Hadji's" were presented at the 11th annua! banquet and meeting of the Pis Kah Girl Scout Council Thursday night in Battery Park Hotel. Mrs. (). A. Gregory, of Marshall, president pro tern, presented the awards, which are given for outstanding service in Girl Scout ing, to Mrs. L. L. Sneed, Mrs. William Styies, and Mrs. Spalding Mcintosh. Mrs. Sneed gave the president's annual message and new officers and hoard members were installed. Girls who attend ed the 1962 Girl Scout Roundup this past sum mer in Button Hay, Vt., presented skits which they performed at the Roundup. Those attend ing also heard remarks by Mrs. Gregory and Mrs. Tania Rollman. Cut Courtesy of Asheville Citizen Walnut, in the Doe Branch com munity, died Tuesday afternoon, January 14, 1963 in his home after a brief illness. Services will be at 2 p. m., Thursday (today) in the Doe Hranch Corrimunity Church. The Rev. Boyd Chandler and the Rev. Harrison Lunsford will of ficiate. Burial will be in the family cemetery with friends ser- ing as pallbearers. Surviving are four sons, Lloyd und Wade of River Rouge, Mich., Glen of Walnut and Thurman Sawyer of Cleveland, Ohio; seven ilaughters, Mrs. Dewey Brown of RFD 1, Asheville, Mis. Burlon Payne of River Rouge, Mrs. Rob ert Reeves and Mrs. Jack Thom as of RFD 1, Walnut; Miss Ruth Sawyer of Baltimore, Mil., Miss Owie Sawyer and Miss Nora Saw yer of West Asheville; two broth ers, Moody and Dolman Sawyer of RFD 1, Walnut; one sister, Mrs. Curtis Mockery of Hot Springs; II grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mr. Sawyer was a retired farm er and a lifelong resident of Doe Branch. Bowman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
