Wade Huey, Director in Madison County Ferdinand E. Mayo Passes Thursday; Rites Held Sat. Ferdinand E. Mayo, 77. of Ashe ville, died in an Asheville hospi tal at 3 p. m., Thursday, Feb. 14, 1963. A native of Maldison County, he had resided in Buncombe Coun ty 61 years. He was an uphol sterer retired from Hazelwood Ta pestry Mill and a son of the late George and Polly Wilson Mayo. Services were held at 11 a. m.. Saturday in Anders-Rice Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Harris officiated. Burial was in River- view Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were J. D. Barnes. Claude Gaddy, Hubert Corn, An derson Calloway, Vaughn Fox and Crawford Ramsey. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Mary M. Mayo of the home: two daughters, Mrs. Winfred Blevnis and Mrs. Mary Manning, both cf Klizabethton, Tenn.; three sons, Garrett B. of Royal Pines, Va., Robert G. of Greensboro and Ab raham of Klizabethton, Tenn.; 2 stepdaughters, Mrs. W. B. Hens ley of West Asheville and Mrs. J. B. Barnes of Asheville; three sis ters, Mrs. Fannie Parris, Mrs. Blanche Wilson and Mrs. Willie Powers, all of Asheville: and a brother, E. C. Mayo of Asheville. Pete Lawson, 83, Native Of County, Passes Monday Funeral services for Pete Law son, 83, of Asheville, who died .Monday, Feb. 18, 1963 in an Ashe ville nursing home were conduct ed at 2 p. m. Wednesday in the chapel of Harrison Funeral Home of Black Mountain. The Revs. Charlie Hollifield and Junior Holder officiated and burial was in Mountain View Memorial Park in Black Mountain. Pall bearers were James and John Bright, Roy Smith, Sam Jenkins, Willie Lamb and Bill Dockery. A native of Madison CoiintyT Mr. Lawson was a former employee of Beacon Manufacturing Co., for 80 years. For seven years, he had lived with a niece at the Riverside Drive address. He was a member of Swannanoa Free Will Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to Mrs. Jenkins are five other nieces.
